When SRS was established over 2 decades ago the company carried out all its functions in house. In addition, the approach worked well, and the company experienced continued growth year after year, however, the growing costs of doing business in the United States significantly impacted the earnings. Therefore, in the late 1990’s the progressive founders of the company decided to take the plunge, even though the idea of outsourcing was still in its infancy, especially for small businesses. Also, before committing a project to a random company with a respectable web presence SRS did thorough research on several companies based on their experience and expertise. Furthermore, the same project was then awarded to three different companies. In addition, the goal was to find one company that satisfied SRS’ expectations. Finally, only one of those three came close to SRS’ expectations.
We then outsourced eighty percent of our engineering contracts to that company. Also, we learned quickly that the bargain basement-priced service came at a price. In addition, the communication barrier turned out to be a bigger hurdle than we had ever imagined. Furthermore, it took the company years to “groom” and train our outsourced group of engineers to meet our company standards. Eventually, with the help of our experienced engineering staff in India and other vital contacts in the country, SRS established its engineering division, SRS Biodiesel & Engineering Pvt. Ltd., to serve SRS International, USA and help other companies across the world with their engineering needs.
