EXISTING BIODIESEL PLANTS 3 MMGY Biodiesel Plant – California, USA.

Recently, SRS International was hired to upgrade an existing 3 MMGY biofuel plant in Northern California. The plant was using older, less productive technologies that no longer met the operational needs of the facility. Therefore, to improve performance and increase production, SRS was tasked with replacing these outdated systems with the latest, most efficient technologies available at the time. The project was carried out in two phases, each focusing on specific areas of improvement.

Phase 1

began with the construction of a new methanol recovery tower, known as the SRXC-Series. This tower was designed to efficiently capture and recover methanol, a critical component of the production process. By doing so, it reduced waste and significantly improved overall process efficiency. Additionally, SRS installed a cold soak system, the BD19 Resin System, which plays a key role in removing impurities from the feedstock. This system helped enhance the quality of the final product while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Phase 2

focused on refining the production process even further. In this phase, the company built a bleaching and degumming system, known as BDGM. This system effectively removed unwanted colorants and impurities from the oil feedstock, improving the purity of the biofuel and ensuring a more consistent product.

Additionally, SRS constructed a solid catalyst esterification system. This system enhanced the conversion of feedstock into biodiesel, thereby increasing production capacity and reducing operating costs. Furthermore, it minimized the use of hazardous chemicals, which significantly reduced the plant’s environmental impact.

The successful implementation of both phases resulted in a significant boost in production capacity and operational efficiency. Consequently, the plant now uses modern technologies to produce higher-quality biodiesel more cost-effectively. As a result, this upgrade has enhanced the plant’s performance and ensured its long-term sustainability.

By utilizing cutting-edge technologies, SRS International has helped the plant maintain its competitiveness in the biofuel market. Ultimately, the project demonstrates SRS’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality solutions that meet client needs and contribute to the growth of the renewable energy sector.
